Gateway Doubles Team Wins Third Consecutive WPIAL Title

Posted on 04/24/2025

Gateway’s dominance in WPIAL Class 3A boys tennis doubles continued on Wednesday, as our top-seeded duo brought home the title for the third straight year.

Senior Zidaan Hassan earned his third WPIAL doubles gold medal and celebrated with junior partner Logan Memije, marking their second consecutive championship as a team. The pair showcased their skill and teamwork with a decisive 6-4, 6-1 win over Mt. Lebanon’s Luca Ritivoi and Mark Summers, the tournament’s No. 2 seeds.

After trailing early in the first set, Hassan and Memije won four of the final five games to secure it, then carried that momentum into a dominant second set.

Hassan previously won the doubles title in 2023 with Logan’s older brother, Adam Memije, who also recently captured the WPIAL singles title.

With the team looking to build on last year’s WPIAL team championship and runner-up finish, the focus now shifts to the WPIAL Team Tournament.
